Roland Emmerich's 'Singularity': The new sony Halts Pre-Production

Poor box office for Roland Emmrich's period drama 'Anonymous' might have hurt his next project: The new sony has suspended pre-production on his $175 million sci-fi epic 'Singularity' and canceled several screen tests. Based on Variety, Raymond Kurzweil, the key expert on singularity who really created the word, will join the project to assist Emmerich with script revisions. 'Singularity' is placed half a century later on, in which a famous nanotechnology pioneer utilizes a harmful new procedure in order to save his hurt boy, Adam. The procedure gives Adam super forces, because of a swarm of nanobots, and that he eventually ends up away from home in the evil corporation that developed the technology. Stars who would read for that lead include Luke Grimes (TV's 'Brothers & Sisters'), Logan Marshall Eco-friendly ('Devil'), Thomas McDonnell ('The Forbidden Kingdom') and Ben Barnes ('The Stories of Narnia'). Reviews are that 'Singularity' isn't within the dreaded Hollywood limbo termed as "turnaround," and can still meet its specific release date of May 2013. However, production will probably be pressed back from next spring to next summer time. Emmerich's current film, 'Anonymous,' which posits that somebody apart from the famous Bard authored Shakespeare's plays, has to date gained only $3 million back from the nearly $$ 30 million budget. 'Singularity' could be more consistent with his previous blockbusters 'The Next Day Of Tomorrow' and 'Independence Day.' Per Deadline, Emmerich's dissatisfaction using the 'Anonymous' box office is not related to this decision. Both 'Anonymous' and 'Singularity' are The new sony releases.
